Starting April 24, 2003, Mohawk Software projects will no longer officially support GCC versions prior to 3.2. The GCC versions 2.9x and lower are now considered "legacy." platforms. There are sufficient differences between the older versions of GCC and the 3.2x series that make supporting both require additional steps.
